The South African DBT Institute Training Process
Our 4 level training process provides a journey for mental health professionals based on their desired level of implementation.
Level 1: Introductory Workshops
iCBT's DBT Level 1 training aims to provide mental health professionals with different 4-part introductory workshops. These include DBT in Mental Health Practice, DBT for Psychiatrists and DBT Skills Crash Course.
Level 2 Workshops
Day 1 focuses on the structure of individual therapy, including case formulation, using the chain analysis, intervention strategies and solution formulation. On Day 2 the use of DBT in individual therapy is consolidated. In the second part of day 2, suicide risk management tools and strategies are discussed.

Level 3: Starting a DBT Program
(4 Days and 3 Check-In Sessions)
Level 3 consists of an initial 2 days of training which focuses on starting and running skills groups, consult groups and providing phone coaching.
Following the first workshop, 6 months is provided for implementing the different functions of DBT. During these 6 months, there are 3 online check-in sessions with the group.
Level 3 concludes with another 2 days of training, which consists of consolidating participant's DBT skills, peer supervision and sharing resources.

DBT Masterclasses
The topics for Level 4 include using DBT for specific disorders or target groups, including:

→ Eating Disorders
* Level 3 is not a prerequisite for Level 4 training, but Level 1 and 2 are.
